Registration Now Open for the 2019 Ros-a-Ree Retreat at St. John the Baptist Parish, Winfield

What is the Ros-a-Ree Retreat? It’s an opportunity for scouts throughout the diocese to enjoy a weekend filled with scouting activities and grow in their Catholic faith. The event is put on by “Crew 3:16,” a Venture Crew of spirited, fun-loving teen scouts who live to share their faith with others and design the event especially for the participants.

The Catholic committee on scouting is now accepting registrations for the 2019 Ros-a-Ree Scouting Retreat to be held Aug. 9-11, 2019, at St. John the Baptist Parish in Winfield. This year’s theme is “Faith Wars”: Combating Seduction of the Dark Side!  The retreat will all be done with a Star Wars twist!  Scouts who love the movies will love the retreat!

Any current scout in the American Heritage Girls, Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Camp Fire Youth, Girl Scouts of the USA and Venturers who will be entering the sixth grade in the fall are invited to attend.  Many scouts find that the retreat helps them satisfy a requirement for a religious recognition they are trying to earn. Most just come for the good time.

During the day, the program includes Mass, adoration, inspiring presenters and lots of indoor and outdoor fun, games and special surprises. At night, scouts camp on the church grounds, enjoy campfires and a living rosary. All campers enjoy four hot meals and, of course, the indoor plumbing.

The early-bird price (before July 15) is only $35. To register, visit www.dioceseofjoliet.org/scouting.
