The Benedictine Sisters of the Sacred Heart are holding presentations on women in the New Testament on May 8, May 15, May 22, and May 29 from 9:30-11 a.m. The presentations will be led by Sister Karen Nykiel, O.S.B., and will occur at Sacred Heart Monastery, 1910 Maple Ave., in Lisle.
The Gospels speak of many women but with very little detail, in part because the evangelists were men. Here, we recognize an important aspect of the Gospels: the realization that Jesus, as the Son of God, revealed women to women in a way unheard of in His lifetime and for so many centuries after Him. He spoke to them as equals, as persons. He paid attention to their dignity and brought them a new awareness of themselves.
In this series, both named and unnamed women will be addressed. The wisdom and beauty of these women may enlighten us, as well inspire us.
There is no fee…donations are always appreciated. All are welcome to one session or all sessions. Programs take place in the 2nd floor of the Chapter Room, Sacred Heart Monastery.
