Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council 4400 was formed April 14, 1957, in Joliet by a group of Catholic gentlemen who believed in the Knights of Columbus principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. Sixty years later, the council is still going strong, and the mission remains the same. The club had a great year in 2016, winning the Columbian Award from the Supreme Council and the public relations award from the State Council. Organized with 39 charter members in 1957, the Council has grown to over 160 members today.
Council 4400 upholds the first principle of the the Knights of Columbus, Charity. In 2016, the council sponsored a stop for the Catholic Charities Diocese of Joliet Mobile Food Pantry; provided mattresses to Daybreak shelter; delivered needed supplies to Birthright of Joliet, amongst several. The club has several fundraisers to assist its charitable activity. The Fur, Fins and Feathers Sportsmen’s dinner is held in the spring, a golf outing is held in the summer, and in the fall the club holds its annual car show. The club also participates in state-wide Knights of Columbus charities, which includes the Intellectually Disabled “Tootsie Roll” Drive and support for vocations and disasters. Donations collected from the 2016 Intellectually Disabled Drive were donated to Cornerstone Services and will be used to support their art program.
Fraternally, the club holds a business meeting twice per month and has several activities for members and families throughout the year. An annual family picnic is held in the summer and a children’s Christmas party in December. Faith events are held throughout the year, including rosaries and a memorial Mass for deceased members.
The club’s fish fry, voted #1 in Will County in 2016, is open to the public and is held year round on Friday and Saturday, excluding major holidays. The fish fry is held at the council hall, located at 1813 East Cass Street in Joliet.
Holy Trinity Council 4400 would like to thank the community for its support throughout our 60-year existence.
Council officers include: Chaplain Fr. Gred Podwysocki; Grand Knight Shane Gordan; Deputy Grand Knight Tim McGrath; and District Deputy Tom Curcio. In addition, the council is fortunate to have four of the charter members still part of the council.
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to all practicing Catholic men age 18 and over. Dues in the club are $40 per year.
