Make a Difference Day was held at St. Mary Immaculate Parish, Plainfield, on Oct. 17. One of the many projects that day was a trip to Feed My Starving Children. Families from the parish packed 154 boxes — or 33,000 plus meals, enough to feed 91 kids for a year. Right after the photo, below, was taken, prayers were offered in gratitude and for those in need.
Other projects included New Life for Old Bags (making mats for the homeless); rosary making; a blood drive; Spanish rosary; adoration; St. Anne’s Sewing Circle (mending items for people); nursing home projects; convent projects; helping hearts and hands (doing odd jobs people are not able to do themselves); Ready Set Ride barn cleaning; shelter dog walking & kitten socialization; two sessions of Feed My Starving Children; Misericordia (folding laundry); park district projects, along with Boy Scouts preparing lunch for everyone and Girl Scouts decorating tables with place mats they had made.
There were, approximately, 1061 Make a Difference volunteers.
