The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods are inviting everyone to join them on Oct. 17-18 for Saint Mother Theodore Guerin FEST!
The festival will begin at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 17, and conclude at noon, on Sunday, Oct. 18. It will take place at Providence Spirituality and Conference Center.
The sisters want all to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin. This year’s event will also focus on the 175 years of ministerial service of the Sisters of Providence.
During the FEST, all are encouraged to learn more about the role of devotion and prayer in the lives of the people of God and participate in workshops that will nourish a love for prayer, music, history, spirituality and sustainability, and relive the foundation story of the Sisters of Providence while enjoying the holy grounds where a saint lived, prayed and ministered.
The keynote address will be provided by Father Mark Joseph Costello, OFM Cap., beginning at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Mass will take place at 11 a.m., followed by an optional luncheon. Guests are also welcome to picnic on the grounds. Activities are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
Some of the activities include tours of the White Violet Center for Eco-Justice gardens and alpaca pasture, and the opportunity to partake in a “Journey with a Saint Tour,” an outdoor experience to learn about the making of the shrine, where festival-goers will meet period-dressed characters from Mother Theodore’s life as history comes to life.
Father Mark Joseph will also discuss his role in designing the Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin while sharing what it was like to be involved and the impact it has had on his life and ministry.
