St. Piux X Students Help Deicke Home with Donation

St. Pius X’s Student Council officers visited the Deicke Home on April 11 to present them with a check for the money earned during their Dress Down Day earlier this year.

The students earned $,1693 for the home.  Upon hearing of the donation, residents were thrilled and gave the kids a tour of their home.  “They showed their friends their rooms, talked to them about their hobbies and about life at the Deicke Home,” said a St. Pius parent who accompanied the students to the home.

The Deicke Home is a not-for-profit residential home for adults with developmental disabilities.  The home allows residents to enjoy independent lifestyles with the help of a caring staff.  It currently houses sixteen residents. Private donations to the home have declined over the past few years due to the  economy, and the home is at risk of closing.
