A dedication ceremony in honor of the new St. Gianna Shrine was held on Sunday, Oct. 11, under the gazebo at St. Patrick Parish in Yorkville. Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Siegel was present to bless the shrine after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. This pro-life shrine is intended to be a place of solace and healing for anyone who suffers from the loss of a child, miscarriage or abortion. St. Gianna’s life is an example of heroic love and a model for contemporary families. Her example of how to live out her faith as wife, mother and doctor in the modern world gives strength and peace to all who contemplate her life.
